We Meet Again!!

It was lovely to see all your smiling faces again - I miss you! Thank you for showing your favourite books and talking about what you think the Microscope is used for - we will have a look through it when we are all back at school. 

Keep looking at My Blog video every morning at about 9:30am and answer the riddle in the comment box with your name at the end of the sentence. Remember it will not just pop up straight away - I read it first and then I publish it. 

Support Staff Week!

We really appreciate our staff at school who help our learners in small groups, help them with learning of English and reading. We are so grateful for the staff who look after our school grounds and fix things when they are broken! We are so lucky to have lovely people in the office to do all the administration that makes the school tick over smoothly, too.

Here is our special morning tea today for all our Support Staff: Room 11 made a giant card for Mrs Anderson who works hard in the Office.

Day 3 Friday Sharing our learning so far.

Mrs Trembath is working her way through all the work that has been shared with her and is about two thirds of her way through - maybe! Inquiry in Reading - Using our own Learning Pathway

 We are thinking about our Sunnyhills Learning Pathway 

Here we are Reading with the Get Thinking part of the pathway
Reading a book together - we all talk about the story and listen to eachother's ideas.

Now we are Exploring a Non Fiction text - Camouflage.

The children can read the book by themselves or with a buddy. They can listen to the text read aloud via an audio link on the Drive. This helps those who need to decode the new vocabulary.

Now using the same book, we are reading the text to find out facts about endemic species in New Zealand. Making Meaning and Connections! 
Next we will share our findings on the drive in the slides - hope you have checked out our work, parents! Let us Share and Shine with you!

Using our Google Drive for the first time - woohoo we are learning fast!

Watching how to log in and where to find the drive on the landing page is very important. Ethan is patiently teaching Janessa.

Teaching on to another student is a great way to revise your own skills and share with others in a collaborative manner. 

Each student is gradually learning how to login and type their password into the computer. It is quite different from a tablet. Mrs T is very impressed with the way everyone is taking care of the laptops and listening to lots of instructions! 

Connor is bringing his own device to school. Here is the Certificate that shows me he has gone to a BYOD Drop in session with his parents. At these sessions, they learn to login and use the Google apps for education (GAFE) and what the Student Landing page looks like.
